An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a highly regarded Research based Institute on a 9 month fixed-term contract (could extend to 12 months). The role is based in London and will require 2-3 days on site. This is a Critical role that will involve maintaining and running a smooth, efficient monthly payroll process, while also supporting the implementation of a new HR and Payroll system as and when required. Key Responsibilities: Take ownership of the monthly payroll timetable, running payroll simultaneously whilst ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times. Act as a subject matter expert on payroll matters, including statutory payments, allowances, and benefits. Partner closely with HR and Finance colleagues to resolve queries and ensure data accuracy across HR and payroll systems. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll tax legislation and compliance requirements. Contribute to the review and development of payroll policies and support annual pay review modelling. Manage one long standing member of payroll staff. Essential Experience: Strong experience working within payroll functions, ideally in complex environments. Proven ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven payroll processes. Knowledge of integrated HR/Payroll systems Sound understanding of UK employment law, payroll legislation, and compliance requirements. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders. Part-qualified CIPD (or equivalent knowledge/experience) desirable. This is an exciting time and for a skilled payroll professional to join an organisation during a time of transformation.
