This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our vibrant, fast paced People Team as the Payroll Manager.
Working as a key lead within the People Team, the Payroll Manager is responsible for leading the payroll team to deliver a best in class payroll operation within Poltronesof.
What does the role involve?- Lead, coach and develop the payroll team, ensuring high performance and effective delivery of day-to-day activities
- Collaborate closely with the Italian Finance team to ensure alignment on payroll processes and reporting
- Oversee the end-to-end monthly payroll for approximately 1,100 colleagues, including new starters, leavers, timesheets, and pay calculations
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll inputs, including statutory payments (sick pay, maternity, paternity, etc.) and holiday
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements and internal policies
- Manage statutory submissions, including RTI returns and HMRC reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for external bodies such as HMRC and pension providers
- Lead the annual pay review process and support broader reward initiatives
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including gender pay gap reporting
- Produce payroll reports and KPIs to support senior management decision-making (e.g. headcount, absence, payroll costs)
- Resolve complex payroll queries and provide expert guidance to the business
- Manage the end-to-end offboarding payroll process for leavers
- Lead and deliver payroll-related projects in support of the wider People Strategy
- Identify and implement process improvements, including optimisation or implementation of HRIS/payroll systems
- A real people person the ability to build strong relationships with the team, colleagues and leadership team
- Enthusiastic with a passion to drive the business forward and personally succeed
- Willing to drive change and continually look to support change beyond the job role within the People function
- Experience within a similar role
- Experience working in a fast paced environment, processing payroll to tight deadlines
- Comprehensive current experience of legislative reporting including HMRC submissions, P60s
- Experience in Year End procedures, PAYE, NIC and statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPP
- Strong IT Skills with excellent working knowledge of Excel
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to problem solve
- The ability to plan and react to change
- The ability to drive performance and manage difficult conversations when needed
- Payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP) or equivalent experience
