Payroll Manager

Workington (Office-Based) £35,000 Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

The Role

An experienced Payroll Manager role managing end-to-end payroll for a varied portfolio of clients within a busy accountancy practice.

You will ensure accurate payroll processing, maintain compliance with payroll legislation, and act as a trusted point of contact for client payroll queries while working closely with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients

*

Process starters, leavers, tax code changes and payroll amendments

*

Calculate statutory payments including SMP and SPP

*

Manage pension administration and salary sacrifice schemes

*

Submit payroll returns and year-end reporting to HMRC

*

Process payroll payments to employees, HMRC and pension providers

*

Respond to payroll queries from clients and employees

*

Prepare payroll reports and client billing invoices

*

Maintain payroll procedures and audit records

*

Support payroll system upgrades and testing

The Ideal Candidate

*

Proven payroll management experience within a busy payroll environment

*

Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, NI and pensions

*

Experience running large computerised payrolls

*

Strong Excel and IT skills

*

Highly organised with strong attention to detail

*

Confident communicating with clients and stakeholders

*

Payroll or accountancy qualification desirable
