Join to apply for the Piping Team Leader - Process role at BakerHicks
UK – Warwick, London, Manchester, Or Motherwell (Hybrid Working)
Your team. Your standards. Your way.
At BakerHicks, we deliver some of the UK’s most technically challenging Life Sciences projects and we’re looking for a Process Piping Lead who wants to take full ownership of how that delivery is shaped.
This isn’t a role where you inherit a fixed system. You’ll lead the piping function your way, set technical direction, shape your team, and define the tools and processes that drive quality. You’ll be the voice of piping delivery across a portfolio of cleanroom, GMP, and complex facility projects, trusted to deliver right first time, every time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the technical leadership of piping layout design across major Life Sciences projects
- Guide all aspects of 3D design, clash detection, model reviews and delivery coordination
- Act as discipline SME, providing expert input from concept through to construction
- Recruit and develop your team, choosing the approach and structure that works best
- Improve and standardise internal delivery processes – you’ll be empowered to make change
- Engage in fee estimates, project bids and early planning strategy
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure project success across disciplines
What You Bring
- A strong track record in piping and layout design, with a focus on Life Sciences, pharma or GMP facilities
- Hands-on experience with Plant 3D (and ideally some E3D or PDMS exposure)
- Confidence in design coordination and clash detection across multi-disciplinary environments
- A leadership mindset – whether through mentoring, recruitment, or driving team performance
- The ability to deliver under pressure while protecting quality and timelines
- Strong communication skills and the presence to engage with clients, teams, and stakeholders
- Familiarity with hygienic piping layouts and relevant codes/specifications
Why this role is different
This isn’t a plug-and-play hire. It’s a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to:
- Build and run a team of their own
- Introduce smarter ways of working and influence how we deliver piping design across BakerHicks
- Own technical authority and shape best practice in one of the UK’s most advanced sectors
You’ll be trusted, backed, and listened to.
Why join BakerHicks
- Deliver projects that improve lives — from R&D labs to advanced manufacturing and vaccine facilities
- Collaborate with a business that puts technical leadership at the heart of its strategy
- Work on flagship UK projects within Life Sciences, with spillover into power, nuclear and public assets
- Enjoy real autonomy, flexible working, and the backing of a multidisciplinary design powerhouse
