Purpose of the Role As a Programme/Project Office Lead, you will manage and oversee a broad portfolio of change initiatives to ensure the delivery of strategic business objectives. You will focus on improving the end-to-end customer journey by prioritising initiatives, tracking benefits, and ensuring funding is allocated appropriately. This role requires a strategic, analytical mindset and the ability to navigate complex, diverse projects while working closely with senior stakeholders. What you'll do: Drive and deliver a prioritised customer journey backlog, identifying opportunities to improve processes and experiences Monitor competitor activity across the journey portfolio and respond to market changes where appropriate Manage incidents effectively and identify opportunities to increase resilience within the customer journey Deliver world-class customer experiences, keeping the customer at the heart of decision-making Oversee the wider portfolio of change initiatives, ensuring projects are prioritised, benefits are realised, and funding is spent appropriately Support cost savings, income generation, risk reduction, and compliance objectives across multiple projects Use analytical tools such as Planview, Jira, and SharePoint to consolidate, monitor, and report on portfolio performance Work closely with teams and senior stakeholders to gather insights, resolve challenges, and make informed decisions Lead and support one direct report responsible for analytics, fostering high performance and development The skills you'll need: Experience managing a complex portfolio of projects or programmes in a PMO environment Strong analytical skills and proficiency with portfolio and project management tools (e.g., Planview, Jira, SharePoint) Demonstrated ability to prioritise work, manage funding, and track benefits realisation across multiple initiatives Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging with senior leaders Proven ability to navigate complexity, influence decision-making, and drive outcomes in a dynamic environment Experience leading and developing team members, providing guidance and oversight Customer-focused mindset with a track record of improving processes, resilience, or end-to-end experiences Next steps There are plenty of reasons why NatWest is a great place to work in a temporary job; they are becoming a simpler Bank, which is more integrated and technology driven.
