Overview

We are seeking a Principal / Associate Transport Decarbonisation Consultant who can be based out of any of our UK offices. You will lead and support decarbonisation initiatives in transport, working with government bodies, clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Advise government (local, regional, national, international) on how to decarbonise transport in line with carbon budgets and net zero
  • Collaborate with Mobility and other Disciplines to identify optimal decarisation solutions and assess their impacts
  • Align transport decarbonisation with client policy agendas
  • Lead complex, innovative projects for high-profile clients, including development of new decarbonisation services and tools
  • Support staff with technical development and upskilling, including technical leadership and assurance of deliverables
  • Develop fee proposals and coordinate technical and commercial responses
  • Support the Transport Net Zero leadership team in continual improvement and business development
  • Foster a collaborative, carbon-conscious culture within the Mobility team and promote best practice

What we are looking for

  • Strong technical experience in providing strategic advice in transport assessment and management, with knowledge of transport modelling and carbon assessment methods
  • Background in transport planning, modelling or carbon assessment; passion for mitigating climate change through decarbonising transport
  • Ability to lead technical outputs, manage projects and communicate complex information clearly
  • Understanding of Net Zero principles in a transport context; preferable carbon assessment experience
  • Knowledge of the planning system and spatial planning decision-making is desirable but not essential
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to innovate beyond traditional methods
  • Willingness to work in cross-disciplinary teams and upskill others on decarbonisation best practice
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and a deep interest in Net Zero
  • Professional qualification or chartership progress is welcomed

Our Transport Net Zero team comprises carbon specialists within the wider Mobility Discipline. The team delivers carbon assessment and management for transport infrastructure, countercarbon strategies, and guidance for local authorities and governments.
