Job Description

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)

Salary: £90,000 – £110,000 + benefits

Employment Type: Permanent

We are supporting a leading engineering consultancy in the appointment of a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their established and growing Data Centre team in the UK. This is a senior technical and leadership role, suited to an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in mission-critical environments.

The Role

You will take a lead role in the delivery of complex data centre projects, acting as a senior technical authority while managing and developing multi-disciplinary MEP teams. This position offers significant influence over design strategy, technical standards, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical design across large-scale data centre projects from early concept through detailed design and delivery

Act as the principal electrical authority on mission-critical infrastructure including HV/LV systems, UPS, generators, and redundancy strategies

Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical oversight to MEP engineers across multiple projects

Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders at senior level

Ensure compliance with UK and international standards, codes, and industry best practice

Support project planning, resourcing, and technical risk management

Contribute to the ongoing development of technical standards and best practices within the data centre team

Requirements

Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Strong, demonstrable experience delivering electrical designs for data centres or other mission-critical facilities

Proven experience leading and managing MEP or multi-disciplinary engineering teams

In-depth knowledge of critical power infrastructure and resilience strategies

Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership (IET or equivalent)

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Salary range £95,000 – £110,000 , dependent on experience
