Job Title: Principal Electrical Power Engineer\n\nLocation: Barrow-in-Furness or Filton – Hybrid – (Barrow – 2 days a fortnight onsite; 1 day a week onsite at Filton) depending on business needs \n\nSalary: Up to £55k (commensurate with skills and experience)\n\nWhat you’ll be doing: \n\nFunctional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment\n\nAuthoring and reviewing technical documentation \n\nManaging associated technical risks, assumptions and dependencies\n\nProviding advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines\n\nEngaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems\n\nTaking a leading role by guiding more junior members of the team through the systems definition process\n\nOpportunity to travel to various locations throughout the UK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites\n\nYour skills and experiences: \n\nEssential \n\nDegree qualified Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering experience\n\nEngineering Chartership required (or significant progress towards Chartership can be demonstrated)\n\nSignificant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems\n\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills \n\nBenefits: \n\nAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.\n\nElectrical Power Systems Definition team: \n\nWorking on the UK’s next- SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of the Electrical Power team responsible for defining the needs of equipment, defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs.
