Job Description
Job Title: Principal Hydrologist\n\nRef. No.: CJD1701M26\n\nLocation: Cambridge\n\nSalary: £50,000 - £60,000\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to join my client, a long-established, market-leading Multidisciplinary Consultancy, renowned for applying their extensive skillset across the engineering and environmental sectors. They are currently searching for an experienced, enthusiastic Principal Hydrologist who is willing to take on a number of challenging projects across the region, proactively leading a team of design experts in the field.
You will be based near the stunning, academic city of Cambridge.\n\nBenefits for the role of Principal Hydrologist include (but are not limited to):\n\nCompetitive salary package, including long service awards\nGenerous annual leave allowance (with the option to buy additional leave)\nPrivate Healthcare and Life Insurance schemes\nPayment of subscription fees for Professional Body memberships\nCompany Pension Scheme\nFlexible/hybrid working opportunities\nElectric Vehicle (EV) scheme\nA focus on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with career progression opportunities\nA close-knit team, with a focus on team bonding and social events \n\nResponsibilities for the role of Principal Hydrologist include:\n\nProduce technical documents, including Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), Environmental Statement (ES) chapters, proposals, etc.\nCheck, amend, and submit technical documents prepared by other colleagues\nCarry out risk assessments, undertaking site walkovers and surveys\nUse relevant software packages (such as WINFAP, ReFH2, etc.) to manage hydrological assessments\nManage key working relationships with a range of clients and other stakeholders, including Local Authorities, regulatory bodies within the water sector, etc.\nOversee all aspects of projects, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards, adhering to budgetary restrictions and time constraints\nProvide support and mentorship to colleagues, throughout their CPD \n\nRequired skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydrologist include:\n\nA UK Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, etc.\nPossess Chartered Status with a relevant Professional Body (e.g., CEng, CIWEM, etc.)\nExtensive experience within a design-based hydrological role, within a UK consultancy (or Local Authority) setting\nDemonstrable experience of report-writing and producing technical documents, particularly Flood Risk Assessments (FRA)\nConsiderable experience with the relevant software packages, including WINFAP, HECRAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, Flood Modeller, FEH Statistical Analysis, etc.\nProven ability to successfully lead a high-performing team of professionals within the sector\nGood working knowledge of the relevant UK legislation, regulations, and policy\nOutstanding communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills\nHold a full, valid UK Driving Licence, able to travel to sites as and when required \n\nDesirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Hydrologist include:\n\nA Higher Degree in a relevant discipline \n\nIf you are interested in the role of Principal Hydrologist, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Davis at Penguin Recruitment.
