Job Description


Our client, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated Principal Systems Engineer - Future Products to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is integral to the newly formed Future Products department, part of Missile Design UK: Emerging Portfolio & Capability function. You will play a crucial role in supporting the organisation's Vision 2040, taking on a variety of responsibilities to drive innovative solutions in a dynamic working environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engaging in early phase design cycle activities, including core Systems Engineering, business development, customer and user engagements, and technology applicability.
  • Involvement in road-mapping, requirement elicitation, bidding for new work, and understanding and fostering capabilities across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Utilising System Design tools such as DOORS for requirements and Rhapsody for Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Design Maturity Assessments.
  • Supporting multiple products across future systems and new business areas, enhancing early phase activities.

Job Requirements:
  • Proficiency in DOORS, Rhapsody, and systems design analysis tools such as Pugh Matrix / QFD.
  • Strong Systems Engineering knowledge with a willingness to test new techniques and methodologies to develop concepts and complete systems trade studies.
  • Beneficial experience in weapons systems, missile design, and systems trade studies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of weapon systems, platforms, and missile sub-systems.
  • Confidence in managing the uncertainties of early concept development and new technologies.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Experience in planning and task management.
