Role Overview: As a Registered Mental Health Nurse at HMP Oakwood, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health care to individuals in custody. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and deliver evidence-based interventions, manage risk, and support service users with complex mental health needs in a secure environment. What you will do: Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals in custody.
Develop, implement, and review evidence-based care plans.
Monitor mental health presentations, manage risk, and support medication compliance.
Respond effectively to mental health crises, including self-harm and suicide risk.
Actively participate in ACCT processes and contribute to safer custody planning.
Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, GPs, prison officers, and wider MDT colleagues.
Lead and contribute to MDT meetings and release planning to ensure continuity of care.
Administer and monitor medication in line with NMC standards and best practice.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with governance, confidentiality, and security requirements.
