Job Description

We are working with a global market-leading FMCG manufacturer to recruit a Process Development Engineer to join their innovation and technology team based near Wellingborough.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly innovative business operating at scale across international markets, supporting the development and delivery of new manufacturing technologies, product innovations, and process improvements within a fast-paced consumer goods environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering projects from concept through to factory implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, and external suppliers.

This role would suit an engineer with a passion for food processing, manufacturing technology, process optimisation, and new product innovation.

The Role

As the Process Development Engineer, you will support the delivery of manufacturing technologies as part of multi-functional project teams, working across innovation, product renovation, waste reduction, quality improvement, and value engineering projects.

You will take ownership of process development workstreams to ensure projects are delivered on time and in full, from early concept and pilot plant trials through to commissioning and industrial implementation.

Key Responsibilities

\n Support Project Leaders across multiple innovation and improvement projects \n

Lead process development activities across product and process design \n

Design and execute laboratory, pilot plant, and factory trials \n

Support pilot plant and factory commissioning and troubleshooting \n

Develop process flow diagrams, functional process designs, and technical specifications \n

Carry out simulation work to validate process, equipment, and control system performance \n

Work closely with product technologists and wider R&D teams to develop prototypes \n

Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing sites, and supply chain teams on new process solutions \n

Support data acquisition, process control systems, and continuous improvement initiatives \n

Manage and coordinate industrial trials across UK and international sites \n

About You

We are looking for an organised and technically capable engineer with strong experience in process technology and manufacturing development.

Experience Required

\n Degree in Engineering, Food Technology, or equivalent experience / apprenticeship \n

Experience in process technology from design through to implementation \n

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability \n

Experience within FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated manufacturing environments \n

Proven track record delivering process or product innovations to market \n

Experience developing and implementing new manufacturing technologies \n

Strong project management capability \n

Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management \n

Fluent English \n

Desirable Background

Control systems / data acquisition exposure \n

Pilot plant or scale-up experience \n

Risk management and technical specification control \n
