Location: UK Remote (Home-Based) with access to DEKRA offices in Southampton, Leeds, or Aberdeen and travel to client sites as required
Day Rate: £800-1,000 per day

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Process Safety Trainer Associate to deliver high-quality training across DEKRA s Process Safety portfolio.

This role is ideal for a technically strong process safety professional with a passion for knowledge sharing and facilitation. You will deliver engaging, structured training to a range of audiences via both virtual platforms and in‑person sessions, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality learning experience.

To deliver DEKRA Process Safety training courses using approved materials, ensuring professional, consistent, and engaging delivery across both open and in‑house client programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Deliver training courses such as HAZOP, DSEAR, and Process Safety Management to mixed delegate groups
  • Facilitate both virtual (Teams) and in‑person training sessions
  • Use interactive delivery methods including workshops, group discussions, and practical exercises
  • Manage classroom dynamics to ensure inclusive and effective participation
  • Respond to technical queries within scope and escalte where required

Course Preparation & Consistency

  • Prepare for delivery by reviewing course content, agendas, and delegate requirements
  • Deliver all training in line with DEKRA s approved materials and learning outcomes
  • Support updates and enhancements to training content where required
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism in all delivery environments

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Capture and provide structured feedback from delegates
  • Identify recurring learning gaps and suggest improvements
  • Participate in train‑the‑trainer sessions and standardisation activities

Administration & Compliance

  • Confirm delegate attendance and completion requirements
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal processes when handling delegate data

Customer Service & Teamwork

  • Deliver a professional and engaging service to all clients and delegates
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Represent DEKRA positively at all times
  • Collaborate across departments to support continuous improvement

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 10+ years experience in Process Safety, with strong expertise in DSEAR, HAZOP, Process Safety Management or COMAH.
  • Strong practical understanding of DSEAR requirements in operational environments
  • Experience with Process Safety Management frameworks, risk assessment, and hazard studies
  • Confident trainer and facilitator with experience delivering to mixed audiences
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • UK-based with flexibility to travel
  • Onboard under limited company with Public Liability and Professional Indemnity and Employers insurance aligned with DEKRA s minimum requirements or onboard through an umbrella company.

Desirable

  • Experience chairing HAZOP studies (preferred)
  • Previous experience delivering process safety training
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and ignition risk
  • Professional membership (e.g. IChemE)
  • Training or facilitation qualification
  • Experience across multiple sectors (e.g. chemicals, pharma, energy, manufacturing, utilities)
