Do you have recent procurement experience supporting a broad range of indirect categories? We’re seeking a Category Manager to join our Procurement team on a 9-12 month fixed-term contract. You’ll be responsible for managing and implementing the UK and Ireland (UK&I) Procurement strategy within the defined scope, using Category Management Processes in accordance with the team’s RACI matrix.
You’ll work to increase efficiency, ensure compliance with FCA/PRA requirements, reduce costs, and adhere to best practices. This role offers a great opportunity to contribute to and develop our business functions, ensuring supplier relationships comply with FCA/PRA standards and business risks are mitigated.

You will work at least 40% of your week away from home, increasing to the majority of your working week from September 2025. 'Away from home' includes attendance at our offices in Birmingham, Bolton, Bristol, or Redhill, or visiting clients and industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather, assess, and challenge business requirements, aiming to preserve relationships and achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Coordinate the delivery of processes and initiatives, establishing best-in-class policies, processes, or services.
- Develop the Category Strategy when not supported by a Global Category Manager and deliver this strategy.
- Manage the delivery of UK&I Procurement processes, policies, and procedures (e.g., RFP, RFI) in line with local and Group standards.
- Negotiate and implement contracts for AXA-UK categories, ensuring compliance with agreed service levels, performance, quality, and delivery standards by proactively managing commercial and contractual risks with third-party suppliers.
- Understand the budget approach (by expense type, contract, supplier) with Finance and business budget owners to ensure comprehension of budget definition, utilization, optimization, and compliance.
- Utilize procurement tools and best practices to increase efficiency and quality of delivery, contributing to procurement savings and KPI achievement.
