Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Production Process Planner to join a growing team in a fast-paced structural steel manufacturing environment.

This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of production scheduling, ensuring fabrication runs efficiently, deadlines are met, and workshop capacity is fully optimised.

You’ll work closely with Design, Procurement, and Operations to coordinate labour, materials, and plant resources—playing a central part in successful project delivery.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing and maintaining the production programme
  • Scheduling new projects and adjusting live workloads
  • Reviewing Tekla models to determine fabrication hours and efficiency targets
  • Allocating labour budgets based on tender data
  • Coordinating pre-fabrication activities (plate work, box girders, jigs, machined items)
  • Identifying ways to improve efficiency through smarter fabrication strategies
  • Collaborating with Design teams on “design for manufacture” solutions
  • Supporting QS & Estimating with cost data and performance tracking
  • Monitoring and reporting production efficiency metrics
  • Liaising with sub-contractors and group companies


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in production planning/scheduling (ideally in structural steel or construction)
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes
  • Commercial awareness and cost control experience
  • Ability to analyse performance and drive improvements
  • Confident communicator who can work across multiple teams
  • Proactive, organised, and able to meet tight deadlines


Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with Tekla Structures
  • Background in fabrication or technical engineering
  • NVQ (or similar) in Fabrication & Welding or related discipline
