Operating within the oil & gas, petrochemical, and wider industrial sectors, the company specialises in the manufacture of high-specification whitemetal bearings for critical rotating equipment, supplying clients globally. This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, made-to-order manufacturing environment and is confident taking full ownership of day-to-day production operations. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and motivate a team of 7 operators and 1 apprentice
Take full responsibility for daily production operations in a hands-on capacity
Plan, prioritise, and coordinate workloads to meet production schedules and deadlines
Deliver against daily, weekly, and monthly production targets
Conduct daily toolbox talks and team briefings
Oversee CNC and manual machining processes, ensuring maximum efficiency
Ensure availability of materials, tooling, and resources
Carry out final inspection and release of finished goods, including completion of inspection reports
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, COSHH, and risk assessments
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and TPM activities
Manage training, competence, and performance of team members
Investigate quality, safety, and performance issues using root cause analysis
Support and maintain the Quality Management System
Essential Skills and Experience Proven experience in a CNC Team Leader or similar supervisory role
Strong background in CNC and manual machining within a precision engineering environment
Experience working to tight tolerances (e.g. 0.02mm)
Demonstrable experience managing team performance and absence
Good understanding of health & safety and modern manufacturing practices
Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills
Experience working within Lean or continuous improvement environments
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience using ERP systems
About You Minimum of 5 years experience within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment
Ability to prioritise effectively and perform under pressure
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
A proactive and hands-on leader who leads by example
Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop others
Positive, flexible, and driven attitude
Desirable Experience CNC programming experience
Knowledge of Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, and Kanban
