Project Accountant
Burton-on-Trent
£55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
Working closely with the Head of FP&A, Project Managers, and senior stakeholders, this role is responsible for project-related financial activities, including accurate month-end closing, compliance with UK GAAP, and supporting strategic decision-making.
The Project Accountant is accountable for managing project finances, ensuring robust reporting and analysis, challenging performance, improving forecasting, and partnering with teams to deliver financial insight.
Key responsibilities:
Month-End Closing for projects
Run initial revenue recognition process in SAP and review anomalies
POC accounting treatments under UK GAAP
Post intercompany accruals and adjustments
Project Financial Management: monitoring project profitability and investigate unusual trends
Forecasting & analysis, projecting cashflow and providing variance
Close AP, AR, materials ledger, and timesheets in SAP
Business Partnering: working closely with varied stake holders, monitoring performance, cost-to-complete, and forecasting accuracy
Qualifications and Experience:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience
3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within manufacturing or engineering sectors
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP
SAP project reporting desirable; strong Excel skills essential
Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
Strong business partnering and communication skills
