About the Company

We are a leading main contractor specialising in the delivery of large-scale, technically complex data centre and mission-critical projects across London and the South East. With a strong pipeline of secured work and long-term partnerships with global technology clients, we are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of major hyperscale and enterprise data centre developments.

The Role

As Project Director, you will take full responsibility for the strategic leadership and successful delivery of large data centre projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships at executive level, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

This role will suit a highly experienced senior leader who has successfully delivered large-scale, complex construction projects—ideally within the data centre, mission critical, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for major data centre construction projects.
• Lead project teams including Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Design Managers, and site delivery teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key supply chain partners.
• Ensure delivery against programme, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
• Oversee project governance, reporting, and risk management.
• Lead pre-construction strategy, procurement, and contract negotiations where required.
• Drive health & safety culture and ensure compliance with company and statutory standards.
• Manage financial performance including budgets, forecasting, and margin protection.
• Support business growth through client engagement and work-winning activities.
• Provide mentoring and leadership to develop senior project staff.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Project Director / Senior Project Manager on large construction projects (£100m+).
• Strong background working for a main contractor delivering complex technical buildings.
• Experience delivering data centres, mission-critical facilities, or other highly serviced environments is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing large project budgets.
• Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple workstreams.
