Overview:

We are working with an exciting contractor in the Utilities sector who have won a strong pipeline of work and is therefore recruiting a hands-on Project Manager to lead delivery. The role is currently water-industry biased and ideal for an experienced site supervisor or project professional ready to step into a senior, autonomous delivery role. The position combines remote and office working with regular site visits and occasional overnight stays.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day delivery of utilities projects (water, gas, electricity) from mobilisation to close-out.
  • Plan, programme and control scope, cost and schedule to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Manage site teams, contractors and supervisors; provide technical leadership and act as the escalation point for complex site issues.
  • Oversee construction, commissioning and maintenance activities, ensuring high quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance (WIRS, NERS, GIRS) and maintain required site records.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, designers, statutory authorities and third-party stakeholders.
  • Produce and maintain project documentation: risk registers, method statements, progress reports, change control and client communications.
  • Undertake site auditing, toolbox talks and health & safety leadership; promote excellent SHE standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce cost and optimise programme delivery.


Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Engineering or technical qualification.
  • Proven project management experience delivering utility construction projects (water experience strongly preferred).
  • SMSTS and valid CSCS card.
  • Membership of an appropriate engineering/professional institution.
  • Strong site-based engineering and safety experience.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Water SHEA, NCO (W) and Hygiene cards.
  • Knowledge of CESWI, British Standards and other technical specifications relevant to utility works.
  • Demonstrable experience with WIRS / NERS / GIRS enquiries and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience establishing or developing an engineering function.
