Base pay range
Project Manager
Salary: £46,200 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: Hybrid (based in Cambridge, UK)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Overview
Our client, a specialist consultancy in sensing and detection technologies, is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate and deliver a varied portfolio of technical and research-focused projects. This role involves managing multi-year R&D programmes, technical field trials, and bespoke builds, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical leads to scope, plan, and deliver diverse technology-based projects.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, using tools such as MS Project or equivalent.
- Act as a key liaison with clients, managing expectations, providing updates, and resolving challenges.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Contribute to bid-writing and forward planning across multiple projects.
- Support project delivery logistics and, where necessary, assist with technical tasks (training provided).
- Prepare clear, concise project reports and documentation.
Candidate Profile
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating complex projects.
- Proficiency in project management tools and budget tracking (spreadsheets, PM software).
- Interest in technical and scientific subjects, with the ability to grasp core project details.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and collaborative team member, comfortable in a small, agile environment.
- UK nationality or long-standing UK residency (minimum 10 years) required due to nature of work.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in sales, consultancy, or government departments.
- Background in homeland security, STEM, or technical environments.
- Practical skills or hands-on experience in lab or field settings.
- Familiarity with quality management (e.g., ISO 9001), PowerBI, or PowerQuery.
- Health and safety knowledge for managing practical project risks.
- Transparent pay progression and annual profit-share bonus.
