OverviewBevan Brittan LLP is seeking a Projects Associate/Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join the Commercial and Infrastructure Department. The team focuses on commercial and complex PFI and PPP contract work across sectors including Health, Education, Social Care, Police and Custodial, Fire Service, Leisure and Culture, Housing, Office Accommodation, Highways and Street Lighting. You will be joining a highly experienced PFI/PPP team that advises both the public and private sectors, working with NISTA (formerly the IPA) and Government Departments on award-winning, high-profile projects and complex contractual PFI/PPP arrangements.The team also advises on high-value outsourcing, managed services contracts, shared service arrangements, partnership and strategic alliance arrangements, joint ventures, commercialisation and new ways of working in the public sector across the UK and internationally.Role descriptionYou will be a part of a team with multi-disciplinary specialisms across construction, finance, disputes, employment, pensions, property, corporate, information governance, IT/IP, procurement, governance and subsidy control. The role involves shaping and developing the practice, supporting clients on a range of exciting and high-value PFI/PPP matters, and opportunities to advise on increased contract management activity, project expiry and handback arrangements for post-PFI service delivery for both existing and new clients. There is scope for the successful candidate to be based in Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds or London.Key responsibilities include:Lead on the delivery of a range of complex projects and commercial transactions to both public and private sector clients.Lead on the operational management of existing PFI and PPP contracts, including variations and advice on contract interpretation and contract management.Advise and support clients in respect of PFI/PPP expiry and future service arrangements.Collaborate with colleagues across the firm in other specialisms to support clients on PFI/PPP projects.Train and develop junior members of the team.Develop your practice and participate in Business Development initiatives to contribute to team growth.What we are looking for5+ years’ PQESignificant experience in working on PFI or other form of PPP complex contracts for delivery of public infrastructure (including ongoing maintenance)Experience in the operational delivery of PFI/PPP or similar projectsAwareness (or experience) in advising and supporting clients in preparing for PFI/PPP expiryExperience in supporting and developing junior lawyersAbility to deliver clear, precise adviceStrong technical skills and ability to understand and work through complex issuesPractical and commercial approach to legal issuesAbility to liaise effectively with clients and build relationshipsAbility to operate with a high level of self-sufficiencyPositive and flexible approachExcellent organisational skills and time managementWe look for a passion to learn, enthusiasm and the desire to excel as a lawyer, plus a team player who enjoys delivering projects and sharing knowledge, skills and experience for the benefit of the wider team.We offer a structured and bespoke development programme to support your professional and personal development and provide clear career progression opportunities.About Bevan BrittanBevan Brittan is a leading commercial law firm with recognised expertise in housing, local government, health and social care, construction, energy and resource management, higher education and financial services sectors.
