Experienced Social Worker (Child Protection)
The Opportunity
We are on an ambitious improvement journey and are looking for dedicated Social Workers to join our Child Protection service. Following a landmark £3.7 million investment specifically into our social work services, we are expanding our teams to ensure we provide the highest quality support to the children and families in our borough.
Our Practice Model
We utilise the Signs of Safety framework to ensure our practice is restorative and strengths-based. You will be supported to work in partnership with families, using creative tools to ensure the "voice of the child" is at the centre of everything you do.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management: Manage a complex caseload of children subject to Child Protection (CP) plans, Children in Need (CiN), and those within the Public Law Outline (PLO) or care proceedings.
Assessment: Lead Section 47 enquiries and comprehensive assessments, applying local thresholds to ensure robust and proportionate responses to risk.
Direct Work: Use tools such as "Three Houses" and "Words and Pictures" to engage children and families in a child-centred way.
Collaboration: Lead multi-agency Core Groups and attend Child Protection Conferences, working closely with partners in Health, Education, and the Police.
Quality & Standards: Maintain high-quality, evidence-based case records and reports in line with statutory guidance and national legislation.

Requirements:
A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma) and current Social Work England registration.
Proven experience in statutory childrens social care, specifically child protection and court work.
Deep knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and
Working Together to Safeguard Children .
