Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor\n\nLeading Independent London Contractor\n\nOverview\n\nAn established, independent London contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver a portfolio of commercial and heritage refurbishment projects across London. Project values range from £500k to £4m, including schools, hospitals, universities, offices, and similar developments. \n\nThis is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for full commercial control, leadership of the QS function, and direct reporting to the board.
\n\nThe Role:\n\nTake full commercial responsibility for multiple refurbishment projects, ensuring profitability and compliance\nManage budgets, cost plans, variations, valuations, and final accounts\nProvide commercial and contractual advice to site and project teams\nLiaise closely with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on all commercial matters\nWork alongside estimators on tendering, cost planning, and procurement strategies\nMonitor cash flow, risk, and contractual obligations throughout project lifecycles\nLead, mentor, and develop junior and project Quantity Surveyors\nReport directly to the board, working closely with the Contracts Manager and Construction Director\nEnsure compliance with health & safety, contractual, and regulatory requirementsCandidate Requirements:\n\nRICS -accredited degree and/or Chartered RICS status\nProven experience delivering commercial refurbishment projects\nStrong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts \nThorough understanding of UK Building Regulations, CDM, and H&S compliance \nExcellent commercial awareness and cost management expertise\nStrong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills\nIT-literate, including commercial and cost management software\nAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently (GBP500kGBP4m)Why Join:\n\nLead high-profile refurbishment projects for a respected London contractor\nSenior position with direct access to the board and influence over commercial strategy\nCompetitive salary up to £80,000 \nClear progression within a stable, forward-thinking business\nCollaborative team delivering prestigious projects across London \n\nLocation: Central London \nStart Date: January 2026
