Quantity Surveyor - High‑Quality Refurbishment & Fit Out Contractor | London

Overview

A high‑quality refurbishment and fit out contractor, known for delivering complex commercial schemes across London and the South East, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. Based out of the company's London office, you will work across a portfolio of projects ranging from £5m to £50m, supporting both pre‑construction and live delivery teams.

The business is experiencing sustained growth and taking on increasingly challenging schemes, making this an excellent opportunity for a QS who wants long‑term progression and exposure to technically demanding refurbishment and fit out projects.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple schemes, ensuring financial control, risk management, and cost certainty across the project lifecycle. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, and the Senior Commercial Manager to support successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Manage commercial duties across multiple refurbishment and fit out schemes.

Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.

Lead procurement of subcontract packages, including tendering and negotiation.

Assess valuations, variations, and payment applications.

Maintain accurate cost reporting and ensure projects remain within budget.

Support contract administration, including JCT contract management.

Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assess commercial implications.

Work closely with project teams to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.

Prepare final accounts and support project close‑out.

Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or specialist fit out contractor.

Strong background in commercial fit out, refurbishment, or interiors.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Solid understanding of JCT contracts and commercial processes.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative commercial team.

Qualifications

Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent).

Professional accreditation (RICS or working toward it) beneficial.
