Senior Risk Java Engineer (VP / Lead Track)

Up to £850 per day - Inside IR35

London (Hybrid - 3 Days per Week in the Office)

Trading Firm - Industry Experience essential - Front Office within a High Performing Trading House

We’re looking for a Senior Risk Java Engineer to join a high-performing team, with a clear path into a Lead position. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in complex environments, and can confidently engage with senior stakeholders.

The Role

• Take ownership of the design and delivery of Java-based risk systems supporting VaR and PnL analytics
• Work closely with Risk, Quants, and Front Office stakeholders, including strategy and risk management teams
• Navigate complex requirements and challenging stakeholder discussions to deliver robust solutions
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, contributing to a strong engineering culture
• Drive best practices in performance, scalability, and code quality

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Core Java development experience in a risk environment
• Solid understanding of Market Risk, including VaR and PnL
• Background in banking or commodities trading
• Proven ability to deal with senior stakeholders (Risk Managers, Strat teams, Front Office)
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers, with ambition to step into a Lead role
