Risk Manager - £60,000 + Benefits

Merseyside (1 day per week in the office)

Full-time | Permanent

We are partnering with a leading insurance business to recruit an experienced Risk Manager to join their Group Risk & Compliance function. This is a key role supporting the delivery and enhancement of an effective risk and governance framework across multiple UK entities.

You’ll play a central part in protecting the organisation’s assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability — while adding real commercial value through strong risk oversight and continuous improvement.

This is a hybrid role, with one day per week in the Merseyside office and the remainder working flexibly from home.

The Role

As Risk Manager, you will support and enhance the Group’s risk management framework, ensuring risk identification, mitigation, monitoring and governance processes operate effectively across all business areas.

You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and functional teams to embed a strong risk-aware culture and deliver practical, proportionate solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

Enhancing and maintaining the Group Risk Management Framework Ensuring operational risks are identified, analysed, treated, monitored and recorded Embedding effective risk incident management processes Leading the implementation and ongoing management of Risk Management software Supporting governance across resilience and operational resilience frameworks Performing risk assessments across all business functions Providing oversight on outsourced providers, suppliers and delegated arrangements Leading the Internal Policy Management framework Partnering with Internal Audit on key risk areas Researching industry best practice to improve risk analysis and reporting Building strong internal relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels Embedding a proactive risk culture across the organisation

About You

We’re looking for an experienced risk professional who brings strong technical expertise alongside the confidence to influence and collaborate effectively.

You will ideally have:

Proven experience in risk management within Insurance or Financial Services Strong experience conducting risk assessments and testing risk controls Experience enhancing governance and risk frameworks The ability to lead projects and deliver structured risk reporting Experience supporting and influencing colleagues on their risk responsibilities Strong analytical and reporting skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills A proactive, solutions-focused mindset The ability to operate independently and take ownership of initiatives
