Second Chef Care Home

We are looking for an experienced Second Chef with previous care home kitchen experience to support the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. The ideal candidate will understand special dietary requirements, maintain high food hygiene standards, and be confident cooking for large groups. Reliable, organised, and a strong team player essential. Communication skills are essential for staff and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and preparing balanced, home-style meals for residents

Cater for special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, vegetarian, texture-modified diets)

Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness

Support stock control, ordering, and minimising waste

Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations

Cover the Head Chefs duties in their absence

Strong taste & creative & able to create new dishes & help plan menu

Requirements:
Proven experience working in a care home or similar environment

Good knowledge of food safety (Level 2 Food Hygiene)

Ability to cook for large groups

Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a team

Compassionate and understanding of elderly residents needs
