Drummond Community High School is a fully comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school based in Edinburgh city centre. Our pathways of support are designed to ensure that every young person develops their academic potential, talents, interests and abilities and we offer a wide range of opportunities across the curriculum from S1 to S6 to prepare learners for their future positive destination. Next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the school.
The school is located very close to the centre of Edinburgh with excellent transport links via tram, bus and train to all areas of the city and surrounding areas.
This new additional Depute Head Teacher post provides opportunity within the school to build on the existing capacity of the Senior Leadership Team to lead and manage school improvement following inspection last academic session. The successful candidate will be one of three Depute Head Teachers in the school who assist and where necessary deputise for the Headteacher. this may include limited teaching commitment.
Special requirements - The Depute head teacher will have relevant experience in the secondary sector. They will have the ability to demonstrate commitment to personal development and/or evidence of recent professional development appropriate to the role as a senior school manager; work in partnership with others in a wide range of school matters and by sharing the responsibility for decision making; take personal responsibility for specific projects, either individually or by leading a team; relate to and form effective relationships with pupils, staff, parents and members of the wider community in order to create a purposeful working environment; set high standards which challenge and inspire pupils and staff to high achievement; and demonstrate understanding of the purposes and processes of professional review and development.
Interviews will be held in January; candidates will be notified when the schools return from holiday.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
