WSP’s Vetting & Personnel Security sits within the Security Management function and delivers a vetting service to both internal and external clients. This ensures personnel security risks are identified and managed appropriately with the aim of protecting our client’s most sensitive assets.
A Little More About Your Role…
As WSP’s Security Vetting Supervisor, you will play a key role in providing an excellent vetting service to our clients while supporting WSP’s wider business in all elements of Personnel Security. The role will assure the efficient operation of all WSP’s screening and vetting processes, prioritising tasks where required to ensure seamless delivery of an effective Personnel Security capability.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure all vetting and screening requirements are satisfied and compliant with both internal policy and external contractual and regulatory obligations (e.g. HM Government BPSS, Defence Security, National Security Vetting (NSV), Aviation Security and Nuclear sector)
- Supervise the day-to-day activity of the Security Vetting Officers, including monitoring team resources, allocating workloads and coordinating and overseeing priority and high-volume activities
- Facilitate resource planning and audit team outputs to achieve key performance indicators
- Provide timely advice and support to WSP’s project teams in all areas of Personnel Security, escalating to the Personnel Security Manager in areas of doubt
- Conduct audits for a variety of security vetting activities, such as quality checks, vetting register/activity audits, scrutinising data integrity and checking aftercare processes and protocols are followed (e.g. clearance shares, transfers, lapses and leavers)
- Assist WSP’s Personnel Security Manager with the implementation of an insider threat governance and risk management framewor
- Support the investigation of insider threat related incidents, including reviewing adverse findings and case management that could impact suitability for ongoing personnel security statuses
- Support WSP’s Personnel Security Manager with developing and delivering security awareness programmes to continually improve WSP’s overall security culture
- Proactively identify process improvements and implement new methods and strategies to enhance team and security procedures and productivity
- Assist with new starter inductions and delivering training on new security vetting procedures
- Produce statistical and management information reports
- Hold SC clearance or the ability to achieve it. (Essential)
- Experience in supervising a team or demonstrable supervisory skills. (Essential)
- Experience in HMG BPSS/NSV administration or similar and knowledge of Cabinet Office National Security Vetting policy and processes. (Essential)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on matters concerning security vetting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver to tight timescales.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365, systems and content management skills desirable.
