The role - SEMH Teaching Assistant

A welcoming mainstream secondary school in Islington is looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. In this role, you will be supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to remain engaged and make progress in their learning.

Your responsibilities will include working closely with class teachers and the SEN department to provide tailored support, assisting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, and implementing behaviour strategies to support positive outcomes. You will play a vital role in helping students regulate their emotions, build resilience, and develop confidence within the classroom setting.

The ideal candidate will be patient, calm under pressure, and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs. Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is highly desirable. A valid DBS on the update service is required for this role.
