Are you a resilient and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a highly rewarding yet challenging role?

We are recruiting on behalf of a Pupil Referral Unit in Longsight for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This position will initially be secured through an agency, with potential for longer-term or permanent opportunities for the right candidate.

The Role:

Supporting pupils displaying severe and complex challenging behaviour

Working 1:1 and in small intervention groups

Implementing behaviour support and de-escalation strategies

Supporting emotional regulation and structured routines

Assisting the class teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum

Maintaining a safe, consistent and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

Proven experience supporting children with SEMH needs

Confident managing high-level challenging behaviour

Calm, resilient and consistent in approach

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Team Teach trained preferred (training can be provided via the agency)

Experience within a PRU, alternative provision or specialist setting is highly desirable
