Job Title: SEN Primary Teacher Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire RG20 8HZ Salary: Up to £45,000.00 per annum + £5,000 Welcome Bonus Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday Rota: 8:30am – 4:30pm daily | Wednesdays until 5:00pm Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only Start: February 2026 UK applicants only; no sponsorship available. At New Barn School, we specialise in supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs who may have found mainstream education challenging. About the Role As a SEN Teacher at New Barn School, you will work with small groups of pupils, delivering creative, flexible, and highly personalised learning programmes tailored to individual needs and interests. You’ll have the ability to think innovatively and use practical, hands-on approaches that help pupils re-engage with learning. You will: Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across the primary curriculum Design and implement individualised learning plans, IEPs, and achievable targets Create safe, calm, and stimulating learning environments—both indoors and outdoors Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, helping them build confidence, self-regulation, and resilience Foster positive, trusting relationships that motivate pupils to participate and succeed Assess progress, celebrate achievements, and adapt teaching to meet changing needs This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives in a dynamic SEN setting, enjoys problem-solving, and believes in the power of relationships and consistency to transform outcomes. What We’re Looking For We’d love to hear from teachers who have: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / PGCE Experience teaching at Primary level, delivering consistently good or outstanding lessons A strong understanding of SEN practice, inclusive teaching strategies, and curriculum adaptation Experience working with pupils with SEMH, EBD, or challenging behaviours (mainstream or specialist settings) A calm, patient, and proactive approach, with creativity and resilience at the heart of their practice A genuine commitment to helping every child reach their potential—academically, socially, and emotionally At New Barn School, you’ll be part of a compassionate, skilled team who believe in transforming lives through education.
