Preston Secondary School
is seeking a dedicated
SEND/SEMH Specialist
to join our support team.
This is a
Temp to Perm
position. You will start via a trial period, allowing you to ensure the school is the right fit for you before transitioning onto a permanent school contract. You will be working with students (11-16) who have
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may have an
Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) .
Key Responsibilities 1:1 SEMH Support:
Act as a mentor for students who find the mainstream classroom environment challenging.
SEND Implementation:
Work alongside the SENCO to deliver specific interventions outlined in
EHCP
documents.
Behaviour Management:
Use positive de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm and productive learning space.
Preston Community Impact:
Help local young people build the confidence and resilience they need to succeed in their education.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from
Qualified (Level 2/3) and
Unqualified
candidates with a passion for supporting young people.
Experience:
Previous work in a school, youth club, residential care, or as a sports coach is highly valued.
Specialism:
A genuine interest in
SEND
and an understanding of
SEMH
triggers (trauma-informed practice).
Reliability:
As this is a
Temp to Perm
role, we are looking for someone committed to becoming a permanent member of our school family.
Skills:
Team-Teach or similar de-escalation training is a major bonus (training can be provided).
