Long Term Futures is seeking an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs in a supportive primary school serving the Kensington & Chelsea area.
The school is looking for someone with strong experience supporting pupils with ASD and additional complex needs, who understands how to provide structure, patience and consistency to help pupils feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, you will play a key role in supporting the pupil's learning, communication and emotional regulation. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day * Supporting a pupil with ASD and complex learning and communication needs * Using visual supports, structured routines and sensory strategies * Supporting emotional regulation and transitions between activities * Encouraging engagement in phonics, early maths and practical learning * Implementing personalised learning and behaviour strategies * Working collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN specialistsThis role requires someone calm, patient and confident working with pupils who require high levels of structured support and understanding of complex SEN needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs (essential) * Understanding of sensory needs, communication difficulties and emotional regulation * Calm, resilient and confident supporting pupils with high levels of need * Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills * Able to build trusting relationships while maintaining structure and consistency * Reliable and committed to a long-term roleWhy Work with Long Term Futures?
