About the role:

EdStaff are looking for a motivated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work at St Helens primary school within their SEND base. The school provides a rewarding and friendly working environment where you will make a real difference in the lives of pupils with additional learning needs.

Within the role, you will work on a one-to-one basis with learners with a high level of need. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about breaking barriers to learning for pupils. Experience of working with children is essential for the role, but applications from those with experience of supporting young people in a similar setting, such as residential children’s homes will be considered.

Key responsibilities:

* Supporting pupils with additional needs

* Implementing EHCP targets

* Promote positive behaviour

* Work closely with class teachers and other education professionals

* Assist with general school duties as required

* Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding

Essential requirements:

* At least 5 GCSE (grade C/4 or above), including Maths and English

* Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or relevant experience in a similar setting

* Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour and/or reluctant learners

* Ability to engage pupils with SEND

* Flexible and adaptable

* Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude

* Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
