SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a supportive school environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to children’s learning, development, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND

Support children with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons to meet individual needs

Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans

Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and independence

Support pupils with social, emotional, and communication needs

Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed

Requirements

Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, nursery, or care setting)

A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable (but not essential)

Experience working 1:1 with SEND pupils

Training in ASD, SEMH, ADHD, or behaviour management

Team Teach or similar behaviour support training
