We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school environment, working across both primary and secondary phases. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to help shape the educational journey of students who need tailored support to thrive.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. Youll work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to create a nurturing and structured learning environment. Your role will involve building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students access the curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Assist in the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
Support classroom activities and adapt materials to meet student needs
Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through positive relationships
Help manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure consistent support
Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reports and reviews
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or similar needs
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification, psychology degree) are desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
