Senior Anode Material Engineer
Shape the Future of Battery Technology with Agratas
At Agratas, we're building the future of sustainable energy, and our materials innovation team is at the core of that mission. We're looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled Anode Material Engineer to lead our efforts in developing and optimising advanced anode active materials for next- lithium-ion batteries.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Anode Material Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development, optimisation, and qualification of anode active materials that meet both our performance and commercial objectives. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will lead material specification, testing, formulation, and supplier engagement to drive innovation from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
Material Selection & Supplier Engagement : Lead market research, material screening, and parameter optimisation of anode materials (e.g., graphite, silicon-based) aligned with cell performance and commercial goals.
Material Characterisation & Testing : Define and lead the implementation of analytical and electrochemical testing protocols (e.g., SEM, XRD, PSD, EIS) to assess material properties.
Formulation Support : Collaborate with electrode and electrolyte teams to provide insights into material interactions, binder/additive choices, and processing compatibility.
Supplier & Quality Support : Work with procurement and quality teams to establish material specifications, support supplier audits, and contribute to DFMEA activities.
Manufacturing Interface : Support scale-up by advising on materials handling, processing parameters, and formulation strategies for volume production.
Documentation & Reporting : Maintain up-to-date material specifications and provide regular technical reports to key stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience:
In-depth expertise in anode materials such as graphite, silicon oxides/carbides, and their structure-property relationships.
Experience with material synthesis and scale-up from lab to manufacturing scale.
Proficient in both physical (SEM, XRD, PSD) and electrochemical (cycling, dq/dv, EIS) characterisation techniques.
Familiarity with global supply chains and emerging trends in battery materials.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Qualifications:
Degree or PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
Previous experience in a battery R&D or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Why Join Agratas?
Be part of a pioneering team developing cutting-edge Li-ion battery technologies.
Collaborate with world-class experts and innovative thinkers.
Play a vital role in the electrification and decarbonisation of global industries.
Work in a supportive, forward-thinking environment with opportunities for continuous learning and growth.
