Overview of the role

We are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor (5+ years’ PQE) to play a leading role in our growing Employment team.

This is a senior position offering genuine autonomy, direct client contact and a clear route to progression for the right individual. You will act as a trusted adviser to employers, from owner-managed businesses to complex international groups, handling a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious matters.

As part of Oury Clark’s multidisciplinary professional services firm, you will work closely with Corporate, Tax, Immigration, Insolvency and Accountancy colleagues to deliver commercially intelligent and pragmatic solutions. The work is high quality and varied, the clients are sophisticated, and internal politics are refreshingly absent.

We are looking for someone technically strong, commercially minded and ambitious, with the appetite to help build and shape the Employment practice over the long term.

Key Responsibilities

Advise predominantly employer clients across the full spectrum of employment law, including:

  • Complex disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Redundancy processes and reorganisations
  • TUPE advice and business transfers
  • Employment Tribunal claims (unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract)
  • Senior executive exits and negotiated settlements
  • Restrictive covenants and post-termination disputes
  • Drafting and advising on employment contracts, service agreements and staff handbooks
  • HR advisory support for retained clients
  • Corporate support on employment aspects of M&A and restructurings
  • Advising on employee incentive arrangements and share schemes (in conjunction with Corporate and Tax teams).

In addition, you will:

  • Manage Tribunal litigation from pre-claim strategy through to final hearing where required
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and trainees
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Identify cross-referral opportunities across the firm
  • Play an active role in marketing, networking and business development
  • Contribute strategically to the continued growth of the Employment team

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 5+ years’ PQE in Employment law
  • Strong experience advising employer clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters
  • Proven ability to run Employment Tribunal litigation independently
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Commercially focused, solution-driven approach
  • Confident in managing a significant caseload with minimal supervision
  • Experience supporting corporate transactions from an employment perspective
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring junior colleagues
  • Clear ambition to progress towards partnership

Experience advising internationally mobile workforces or collaborating with tax/accounting teams would be advantageous.

What You Will Get

  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Central London office location
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Private healthcare
  • Life insurance (4x salary)
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • 6% client referral commission (first two years of fees)
  • Recruitment commission
  • Long service benefits
  • Helping Hand Fund (support in times of need)
  • Perkbox
  • Season ticket loans
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Charitable Giving Scheme
