The Building Surveyor Role
The successful Building Surveyor will deliver a wide range of building consultancy instructions, combining technical expertise with strong client management and commercial awareness. The role is client facing and relationship led, with a clear emphasis on developing a long-term professional network and contributing to departmental growth.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider consultancy, supporting cross-service delivery and maintaining consistently high professional standards.
Duties of the Building Surveyor to include:
· Delivering professional and project-led Building Surveying services across commercial property
· Project management and contract administration duties
· Advising on dilapidations and landlord and tenant matters
· Undertaking pre-acquisition surveys and technical due diligence
· Preparing specifications, schedules of condition and defect analysis reports
· Managing billing, fee reporting and commercial performance of instructions
· Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and best practice procedures
· Collaborating with colleagues across other service lines to identify cross-selling opportunities
· Supporting team collaboration and contributing positively to department culture
The Person?
The successful Building Surveyor will be commercially minded, technically strong and confident operating in a client-facing role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
· Building Surveying experience within a commercial consultancy environment
· Strong understanding of commercial building construction and pathology
· Working knowledge of JCT contracts and contract administration
· Experience delivering dilapidations, technical due diligence and pre-acquisition surveys
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· High levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
· Ability to manage workload, deadlines and fee income effectively
· A professional, proactive and collaborative approach
