Description
Lead procurement activity across key categories, with a strong focus on Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) and engineering spend Act as a senior escalation point and commercial lead for UK and international suppliers Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to deliver sustainable cost savings Benchmark supplier pricing and identify opportunities for continuous cost reduction Source, evaluate, and onboard alternative suppliers to reduce risk and improve competitiveness Manage supplier performance across delivery, quality, and pricing accuracy Support and influence procurement strategy alongside the Purchasing Director Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes, systems, and the supplier base Contribute to stock management, forecasting, and broader supply chain optimisation Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure operational and commercial requirements are metProfile
A successful Senior Buyer should have:
Proven experience in a senior buying or procurement role within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or distribution Strong background working with international suppliers and import processes Demonstrable success in negotiation, cost reduction, and supplier performance management Commercially astute and confident challenging decisions to drive better outcomes Comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability in a senior role Highly organised with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Experience using ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is desirable but not essentialJob Offer
