We are supporting a leading UK engineering contractor delivering major EPC projects across the power, utilities, and energy infrastructure sectors. They are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary energy projects on a 12-month contract basis.
Scope of Work
Support the delivery of civil engineering works across EPC projects including power facilities, substations, transmission infrastructure, energy storage (BESS), and process engineering sites.
Act as the primary civil engineering interface between design teams, construction teams, project management, and commercial functions.
Coordinate and manage civil design deliverables from internal teams and external consultants, ensuring alignment with project requirements, programme, and budget.
Manage civil engineering scopes covering earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage systems, chambers, ducting and cable routes, access roads, hardstandings, retaining structures, bunds, and general site infrastructure.
Provide technical oversight and review of civil designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications in line with UK standards, Eurocodes, and CDM Regulations.
Support project planning activities including sequencing, constructability reviews, temporary works considerations, and risk management.
Assist with procurement activities including preparation of technical scopes, tender reviews, supplier evaluations, and subcontractor coordination.
Provide technical support during construction including RFIs, site queries, design clarifications, change management, and NCR resolution.
Coordinate with electrical, structural, MEICA, and process engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated and buildable solutions.
Monitor progress of civil works on site and support reporting on schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
Support quality assurance and quality control processes including ITPs, inspections, and handover documentation.
Contribute to CDM design risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZCON, and temporary works reviews.
Support project close-out activities including as-built drawings, O&M information, and final handover.
Experience Required
Proven experience in a Civil Project Engineer or similar delivery-focused role within the power or energy infrastructure sectors.
Experience working on EPC-led projects and coordinating design, procurement, and construction activities.
Strong technical understanding of civil engineering works including earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, ducting, and site infrastructure.
Ability to review, manage, and challenge civil design outputs without being a design-only role.
Strong knowledge of UK design standards, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations, and construction best practice.
Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and engineering consultants.
Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to travel to UK project sites as required.
