I’m currently partnering with a leading consultancy that supports major UK defence and MOD programmes. Due to sustained growth within their defence portfolio, they are looking to appoint a Senior Procurement / Commercial Manager to join their Bristol-based team.
This role will suit an experienced commercial professional who is comfortable operating at programme level, leading complex procurement strategies and providing senior commercial oversight within highly regulated defence environments.
The Role
Based in Bristol, you will play a key leadership role across major MOD programmes, advising clients on commercial strategy and ensuring robust procurement and contract management practices are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Leading complex, high‑value procurement exercises within regulated defence environments
Shaping and implementing commercial and sourcing strategies aligned to programme objectives
Providing senior commercial leadership across NEC, JCT or bespoke contract forms
Managing commercial risk, cost control and supplier performance at programme level
Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including MOD and supply chain partners
Supporting commercial governance, assurance and audit processes
Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members where required
You will be working across major infrastructure, engineering, digital and capability delivery programmes within the defence sector.
About You
Significant experience in senior procurement and/or commercial management roles within defence, aerospace, infrastructure or other regulated sectors
Strong working knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations (PCR) and/or DSPCR
Demonstrable experience working with MOD or central government clients
Proven ability to lead commercial strategy on complex, high‑value programmes
Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement and risk management capability
Degree qualified (or equivalent experience)
MCIPS, MRICS or similar professional accreditation highly desirable
Security Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of the programmes, candidates must hold Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible and willing to obtain it.
Applicants must also be sole British nationals to meet clearance eligibility requirements.
