Overview We are looking for an experienced Modern Workplace Architect/Consultant to lead the architecture and delivery of a multi-year Modern Workplace transformation for one of our customers. This is a client-facing leadership role owning the technical strategy and execution across endpoint modernisation, Microsoft 365 collaboration, and Microsoft E5 security and compliance. You will operate as a trusted advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders, shaping a secure, compliant, and high-performing employee experience across a global user base. What you will do
Lead the end-to-end Modern Workplace transformation for the client (strategy, architecture, delivery governance, and execution oversight) Own Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration from readiness and app compatibility through pilot and global rollout Define the global target-state architecture for endpoint management, collaboration, identity controls, security, and compliance Design and implement modern management using Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Windows Update for Business, and device compliance policies Drive the Microsoft 365 workplace stack evolution, including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive (including operating model and governance) Lead E5 security architecture and implementation (for example, Conditional Access, Defender suite integration, device and identity risk controls, security baselines) Lead E5 compliance architecture and implementation (for example, Purview sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, eDiscovery, audit, records management, secure collaboration patterns) Establish and run technical design authority, ensuring consistent standards, patterns, and high quality engineering outcomes Coordinate cross-functional dependencies (identity, network, security operations, service desk, and application owners), managing risks and blockers Produce and govern key deliverables (HLD/LLD, runbooks, reference designs, adoption inputs, operational handover packs) Provide calm, credible C-level engagement, translating complex technical decisions into business outcomes and risk-based options
What you bring (essential)
Significant experience as a Senior/Lead Modern Workplace Architect or Consultant delivering enterprise EUC and workplace change programmes Proven track record leading global Windows 10 to Windows 11 migrations (strategy through execution is a must) Deep expertise across the Microsoft workplace stack: Endpoint modern management (Intune, Autopilot, app lifecycle, compliance, baselines, update rings) Microsoft 365 core services (Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive) E5 Security and E5 Compliance (Purview) design and implementation, plus operationalisation Strong understanding of hybrid and cloud architectures, including Azure fundamentals and identity integration patterns Workplace virtualisation experience (AVD, Windows 365, plus familiarity with WVD concepts where applicable) Working knowledge of CI/CD approaches applied to workplace engineering (version control, release discipline, automation, configuration as code concepts) Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers High standards for documentation and delivery quality, comfortable owning architecture, governance, and outcomes
