The Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Construction team, based in Cambridge. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing and coordinating the design process from early stages through to delivery, ensuring projects are safe, compliant, buildable and aligned with client objectives. You’ll work closely with internal teams, consultants, supply chain partners and clients to drive high‑quality design outcomes across complex construction projects. What You’ll Be Doing
Leading and managing the design process from pre‑construction through to project delivery Coordinating internal and external design teams to ensure clear communication and accountability Managing design risk, programme, quality and compliance Contributing to pre‑construction planning, tenders and bid activity Challenging designs to improve buildability, value, sustainability and programme efficiency Supporting innovation, digital solutions and best practice Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in a Design Management role within construction or the built environment Strong technical knowledge across design disciplines and construction processesConfidence managing complex projects and multiple stakeholdersA collaborative, organised and solutions‑focused approach Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills Experience in leading teams or mentoring others is desirable
