Opportunity:\n\nA multidisciplinary environmental consultancy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Ecologist to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 4-5 years' experience in ecological consultancy to take the next step in their career, helping deliver a wide range of projects across diverse sectors including quarrying, rail, road, energy, and industrial.\n\nThe role offers a balance of office-based work and flexible working from home and the team values transferable skills so if you bring relevant experience or enthusiasm to grow into the role, you're encouraged to apply.\n\nResponsibility:\n\nLead and mentor team members, supporting the development of junior staff.\nManage project planning and resource allocation for ecological surveys.\nUndertake a full range of habitat and protected species surveys, including specialist areas.\nProduce high-quality technical reports and review work completed by others.\nSupport client engagement on large and complex projects.\nContribute to business development and help win new work.\nProvide input on budgets, tenders, and project management.\nEnsure high standards in health & safety across team operations.Requirements:\n\nDegree in Ecology or a related field (BSc essential; MSc desirable).\nAssociate membership of CIEEM, with intention to progress to Full membership.\nSpecialist knowledge of Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) and UK Habitat Surveys.\nProven experience in a range of protected species surveys (e.g. bats, GCN, dormice), ideally holding relevant licences.\nStrong understanding of UK/EU legislation, planning policy, and industry standards.\nExperience across various sectors, with proficiency in at least one or two.\nSkilled in data analysis, GIS mapping, and interpretation.\nStrong report writing skills, including contributions to EIAs and other complex documents.\nExperience with project budgeting, client liaison, and proposals.\nConfident in providing advice to clients with minimal oversight.Benefits:\n\n24 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service).\nHealthcare scheme with Benenden Health.\nLife insurance (3x annual salary).\nPaid professional subscriptions (up to £750 per year).\nAccess to an employee benefits platform (Wider Wallet).\nPension scheme with 4% employer contribution.\nDrive Electric car scheme.\nPool and hire cars available for project travel.\nLong service rewards.\nEmployee referral scheme.If you think you have the required experience to fit this role, please click 'Apply' below to submit your cv for review.
