OverviewJob title: Senior Electrical and Electronic Design EngineerLocation: DorsetJob type: PermanentOur Client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical / Electronic Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to take technical ownership of projects, lead design activities, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, fit-for-purpose solutions to our customers.You will be responsible for the conceptual design and technical leadership of electrical and electronic systems, supporting projects from initial specification through to manufacture, testing, and customer acceptance.ResponsibilitiesLead the electrical and electronic design of projects from concept through to product realisationGenerate clear and comprehensive design specifications for team membersPrepare accurate cost estimates to support quotationsProvide regular and reliable technical status updates to the Project ManagerLiaise directly with customers and internal engineers to clarify requirements and ensure compliance with specificationsDevelop and review electrical drawings, wiring schedules, and electronic documentationDesign PCBs where requiredResearch and source specialist componentsReview and sign off manufacturing drawing packs to confirm build readinessWork closely with Manufacturing during assembly and test stages to resolve technical queriesLead and supervise testing activities, including Factory and Site Acceptance TestingProduce product documentation and handbooks where requiredProvide technical support, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineersEnsure designs remain compliant with current industry standardsWhat We\'re Looking ForEssentialFormal qualification in Electrical or Electronic EngineeringMinimum 5 years\' industry experience in electrical design and implementationExperience designing test equipmentExperience with analogue and digital interface circuit designStrong problem-solving skills and a methodical approachAbility to produce documentation that supports efficient manufactureExcellent communication skillsAbility to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearanceDesirable18th Edition Wiring Regulations certificationExperience in Power EngineeringExperience with National Instruments hardware/softwareAbout YouYou are technically confident, detail-oriented, and capable of leading projects with minimal supervision.
