Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Due to continued success and new project awards, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our busy design studio at our Head Office in Southampton.

About the role

We are a friendly and professional multi–disciplined team responsible for the design management of a variety of projects across all sectors. Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Management of project-specific design deliverables
  2. Carrying out design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures
  3. Detailed design in line with Trant Procedures
  4. Interpreting client requirements from documents such as drawings, specifications, and correspondence
  5. Communicating with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance
  6. Conducting site surveys of existing assets
  7. Conducting optioneering and feasibility studies
  8. Assisting with tender pricing
  9. Producing procurement specifications and detailed design construction drawings
  10. Managing third-party designs and supporting installation and commissioning teams
  11. Reviewing vendor control system specifications and vendor data for electrical equipment
  12. Managing project-specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
  13. Undertaking and checking design calculations, including power system modeling (AMTECH)
  14. Preparing drawings for CAD production
  15. Developing process control philosophies with Process Engineers and suppliers
  16. Producing electrical scope and works enquiry documents
  17. Estimating material and labor costs
  18. Conducting design risk assessments
  19. Preparing detailed electrical specifications
  20. Producing single line diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable and equipment schedules, telemetry, instrument schedules, and I/O listings
  21. Documenting all design changes and issuing 'As Built' documents
  22. Liaising with clients and subcontractors

Qualifications/Background

An appropriate electrical qualification or relevant experience. Chartered Engineer status is advantageous but not essential.
