Lead Electrical Engineering on UK Energy Transition Projects.
We are recruiting a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to play a key technical leadership role across complex power generation, renewable energy and industrial infrastructure projects.
This is a high-impact engineering position supporting grid-connected generation, battery storage, anaerobic digestion, energy-from-waste and industrial energy systems. You’ll contribute across the full project lifecycle — from feasibility and grid strategy through to commissioning and operational optimisation.

The Role
Electrical Engineering Leadership
• Lead design and technical delivery of LV and HV electrical systems
• Produce and review SLDs, protection philosophies and technical specifications
• Equipment selection and compliance assurance
• Ensure safe, commercially viable system design
Grid Integration & Power Systems
• Support integration of generation and storage assets into the UK grid
• Work on grid connection strategies and interface management with DNOs/TSOs
• Contribute to power system studies and compliance with IEC, ENA and BS7671
Feasibility & Technical Due Diligence
• Early-stage technical assessments
• Risk identification and cost input
• Support investment and development decisions
Full Project Lifecycle Oversight
• Concept through design, construction, commissioning and optimisation
• Site attendance for installation reviews and commissioning
• Technical authority for electrical matters across projects
Modelling & Performance Optimisation
• Use modelling/simulation tools to assess performance and stability
• Support optimisation of generation, storage and control systems
Controls & Process Integration
• Work alongside controls engineers and SCADA specialists
• Ensure safe and effective integration within process environments
Technical Problem Solving
• Root cause analysis and high-level troubleshooting
• Combination of desk-based analysis and site-based engineering
Stakeholder Management
• Engage with utilities, contractors, technology vendors and regulators
• Represent the business in technical forums and approvals processes
Candidate Profile
You will likely bring:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
• Experience in power generation, renewable energy, battery storage or industrial infrastructure
• Strong understanding of grid integration and UK electrical standards
• Knowledge of HV/LV systems and protection
• Exposure to SCADA or industrial control environments
• Experience with engineering tools (AutoCAD, MATLAB or similar)
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced delivery environment
• Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas
Experience within energy-from-waste, anaerobic digestion, industrial energy or process plant environments would be advantageous.
