Job Description

We are working with one of the UK's leading house builders to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer. The Design and Technical teams play a central role in housing design, innovation and value engineering, overseeing material selection, cost efficiency and sustainability across a diverse portfolio of sites, many involving complex constraints and existing buildings. The team operates within an evolving legislative and environmental framework, continually seeking smarter, more sustainable solutions.

Predominantly drawn from architectural and engineering backgrounds, the team offers a stimulating environment to develop expertise in design leadership and project management.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Engineering or Technical Manager, the role is responsible for leading all civil and structural engineering matters across developments. This includes managing infrastructure and groundworks design, coordinating internal teams, and overseeing external consultants and statutory stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all civil and structural engineering activities across developments
  • Manage external consulting engineers delivering foundations, roads, sewers and adoption agreements (S38, S104, S278)
  • Prepare pre-purchase appraisals, identifying constraints and abnormal costs
  • Drive value engineering to ensure best value, compliance and buildability
  • Manage planning conditions, building regulations and timely adoptions
  • Build strong working relationships with site teams, local authorities and consultants
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation and best practice
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies
